Historisches Herrenhaus – Rückseite mit Blick auf den Park

The International School Villa Amalienhof is housed in a historic manor house in a quiet green suburb to the west of Berlin. The former “Klitzing’s Works”, which belonged to Ludwig von Klitzing from 1836 until its purchase by Moritz Gerhard Reimer, was given the name Amalienhof by royal decree in 1860, named after the Reimer’s first wife. In 1873, judge Dr. Julius Lazarus acquired the property. Today, the former manor belongs to the City of Berlin, which in 1958 converted it into a state recreation centre. An international school has occupied the site since 1998.

The classrooms of the senior school are situated in the Villa itself, along with a laboratory for natural sciences, the senior school library, a medical room for first-aid treatment and reception area. The buildings are surrounded by 15 acres (60,000 square metres) of park and woodland. Much of the flora is protected. There are several play areas on the grounds, as well as jogging tracks, playgrounds, exercise areas, a basketball court, a tennis court and table tennis tables.

There is a small biotope located in the forest, together with an open-air stage. We take pride in the school’s unique green premises. Our park offers the children a wholly natural environment to explore and enjoy. The Primary School classrooms are situated in Oakwood House. Primary School pupils have their own computer room and a well-stocked library. All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards.

The school cafeteria was completely refurbished in 2007. It consists of 3 separate, spacious and bright dining rooms where students can either bring their own packed lunch or enjoy a freshly served, healthy hot meal or purchase a snack.

The school’s Music and Art lessons are taught in the renovated barn on the school grounds. The well equipped music studio is on the ground floor while the art studio, with huge skylight windows that provide much natural light for students to work by is located on the top floor.
