Intensive English – Learning just like at an English Summer Camp
Summer Camp, held on the campus of International School Villa Amalienhof in Berlin Spandau, takes place in a unique atmosphere. “English & Sports“ is the motto for this summer with the Camp taking full advantage of the school’s exceptional grounds which are located in a leafy suburb to the west of Berlin.
As part of the holiday day care programme, children and teenagers aged 3 to 18 benefit from participating in professionally led English lessons set in an international context.
The Camp offers first class English-speaking holiday care for both German and international children this summer.
Learning English in the Summer Holidays
The aim of this language course is to promote enjoyable learning of the English language alongside play, fun and sport. Children will have an unforgettable summer, make new friends and gain truly memorable experiences in the wonderful grounds of an English speaking international school whose idyllic woodland grounds lie not far from the centre of Berlin.
Outstanding playtime and sports facilities, Art and Music Studios as well as classrooms in the listed Villa are at the children’s disposal.
Modern teaching equipment and a tranquil, leafy setting offer the perfect learning environment for children and teenagers while at the same time ensuring summer holiday fun.
Each week will have a different theme with related activities:
Week 1 – Dance Workshop
Dance your way through summer! This camp is open to any child wanting to explore the wonderful world of dance.
Week 2 – Musical Theatre Workshop
Do you enjoy singing, dancing and acting? Well then this is the perfect Workshop for you. Time to let your creativity shine!
Week 3 – Art workshop
Have you ever dreamt of becoming an artist? This week will be all about crafting, painting and many other creative activities.
Tuition by Native Speakers
In keeping with the ethos of International School Villa Amalienhof – to nurture and respond to the needs of the individual – small classes help ensure maximum progress for the children. The summer school’s interactive tuition through bilingual speakers caters for different age groups:
Course 1: First Steps in English
This course is designed as a day care programme for children of Kindergarten age. The little ones can make their first contact with the English language in a caring environment. Children learn through age appropriate games, Arts & Crafts and Music with qualified teachers.
This course is must be booked for the duration of at least one week.
Course 2: English & Sports
This programme is for older children with varying levels of English. The children’s English language ability is assessed on the first day and the children are placed into groups accordingly. Aim of the English lessons is to improve and develop the linguistic competence of the students. On a lighter note, students are offered Art and Music lessons as well as Drama classes. An attractive Sports programme, designed especially for the Summer Camp by an ISVA Sports teacher, is the second main aspect of this course. All activities of this course, which is also bookable on a weekly basis, are held in English.
Course 3: Intensive English
This programme allows students to improve their English through intensive study. Experienced “English as a Foreign Language” teachers address the individual needs of the students. As well as intensive English lessons with native English speaking teachers, current affairs, outdoor activities and excursions are all part of this three week course. In their free time, the students can use the extensive grounds and sports facilities to relax.
Child Care Times and Meals & Refreshments
Summer Camp takes place Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 4.00pm. Additionally, morning care from 7.30am – 9.00am and afternoon care from 4.00pm – 5.30pm is available. ISVA provides warm lunches, healthy snacks and drinks
